06:30: we get up and leave the hotel at around 8:00 without even a coffee. Shell is our rescue: we fill up on gas, coffee and tea. The plan for today is Hwy 1 along the ocean, to San Francisco and around the bay to Napa.

At Castroville, the Artichoke Center of the word, we take a short walk at the beach and guess what we see – a Sea Otter, it’s lying on the beach first and then moving into the water where we watch it swim around. We stopped many times on our way to San Francisco to enjoy the magnificent views and take pictures.  We drove over Golden Gate Bridge and then continued on along the coast on Hwy 1. Only a few miles out of San Francisco we pass small country side towns and villages again. The cliffs are very impressive. We stay on Hwy 1 to Bodega Bay and from there take the scenic route along Russian River to Santa Rosa. We stay at the Country Inn (much better Hotel than last night). Dinner we have at Applebee’s which is ok but nothing special.
