To look at things is very different from seeing it – Oscar Wilde

Monument Valley, UT

SONY SLT-A99V, f/13, 1/200 sec, ISO 100

We are getting up at 6am, have a good breakfast with scrambled eggs, sausages and waffles and then head east on HWY 98 towards Kayenta and Monument Valley.

The sky is again deep blue but it is very cold and windy – we measure temperatures as low as 26 Fahrenheit (-3.5 Celsius)! But, probably because of the wind and the cold, we have excellent, very clear visibility – look at the pictures, they speak for themselves!

On the way home we take a detour to the Navajo National Monument, luckily the wind is not as strong here, so we take two nice walks, one to see the Betatakin Ruins and the second one downhill into the the canyon to a view point from which we see all the way down to the forest at the bottom of the canyon.

We return to Page and turn right just after the Navajo Power Plant to the Antelope Point Marina. Here we stay and enjoy a beautiful sunset.

For the night we stay at the Best Western Plus. Today we are having dinner at Stromboli again. This time we all have excellent pasta dishes.

Another gorgeous day!

  • Gorgeous place with unbelievable rock formations. For me one of the top spots in the Southwest. A pity that you did not stay there overnight thus to enjoy sunset and sunrise. But I guess that you want to see as much as possible. Enjoy your ongoing trip and the natural beauties to come. Regards from rainy Zurich – Werner
