To look at things is very different from seeing it – Oscar Wilde

South Mountain Park

SONY ILCE-7RM2, f/10, 1/160 sec, ISO 100

Today we are heading south to South Mountain Park – it’s a mountainous area of 16,283 acres (65.89 km2) of native desert vegetation and it’s located south of central Phoenix. Beyond the roads leading to armadas and the summit, the park features 58 miles (93 km) of trails for cycling, hiking and horseback riding. Indeed, we see hundreds of cyclists and some hikers fighting the mountains.

To our surprise though besides some blooming ocotillo trees we do not see too many flowers anymore. The blooming season is over, we should have come here probably a month earlier. However the view down to Phoenix and Scottsdale is spectacular.
