To look at things is very different from seeing it – Oscar Wilde

Cloudy sunset at La Jolla Shores

SONY DSLR-A900, f/4.5, 1/50 sec, ISO 200

After a long week of work we feel like getting out today. These recent days the marine layer has cleared off usually between 10am and noon and often times has come back towards sunset. But, from where we live it is always hard to judge how it really looks down at the beach and many times we have been positively surprised. So today, we head to the beach even though it looks foggy from our home, when we get there we find the sky blue and almost cloudless. Soon clouds start moving in out of nowhere though and by 7:30pm the sun has disappeared. There is only a small window without clouds just at the horizon, so we wait until the sun re-appears before setting “into” the ocean. It’s been a one of a kind sunset once again – each one of them is different and fascinating!
