Temple of Self Realization

SONY DSLR-A700, f/5.6, 1/250 sec, ISO 640

Pat, our dear land lady, has been talking about this place for weeks and today we finally all make time to visit the Temple of Self Realization up in Encinitas.

This temple is a branch of Self-Realization Fellowship, a worldwide religious organization founded by Paramahansa Yogananda in 1920 to teach scientific techniques of meditation that will lead to a direct, personal relationship with God. Paramahansa Yogananda is also the author of the spiritual classic “Autobiography of a Yogi”.

The temple is not open to the public, but the park is. It’s a beautifully maintained and landscaped park with ponds with huge Koi carps, exotic trees and plants, leading up to the ridge of the hill from where you can see the ocean. It’s indeed a very meditative setting which invites to stay and relax.
