Coyote Canyon

SONY DSLR-A900, f/5.6, 1/1250 sec, ISO 200

Today Marco get’s up shortly after 5am (which is not unusual) and he decides to wake me up to go on a day trip to the desert. At 6am we sit in the car and start driving East on HWY 52, then South on 15 and East again on HWY 8 to Alpine. We take the exit Willow Road, after a few miles the pavement ends and we drive up into the mountains on a gravel road which leads almost all the way up to Julian. One mile before Julian we hit the paved road again.
In Julian we have Apple Pie and and Cappuccino for breakfast (it’s about 7am!).
From there we take HWY 78 down into the desert. In Borrego Springs we drive through some orange orchards and soon after arrive at Coyote Canyon.
Some Ocotillos are already blooming and there are some purple and yellow flowers but otherwise it’s still winter in the desert. It’s still cold in the mornings, but as soon as the sun is out it’s nice and warm and we walk around in shorts and t-shirt – the perfect weather for a walk in the desert!
It felt good to be out of town again and enjoy the stillness of the wilderness – it’s has been a great trip!
