The marine layer is laying heavily over the coast. So, we take our time and only leave Crescent City at around 09:30.

We take some loops and Scenic Byways along HWY 101 and get some exciting views of the coast again. We also follow a road inland along the Klamath River, hoping for an ideal spot to fish. Unfortunately, we cannot find this perfect place, but Marco still gives it a try at a (almost) lonely place. The river is quite wide but still has very clear water. Some Ospreys are fishing, so there must be fish in it!

In the afternoon we head further south on HWY 101 and then on Newton Drury Road through Redwood State and National Park. We take several walks into the forest and stroll between these gigantic trees. One of them is actually about 300 feet (100 Meter) tall and approx. 1,500 years old. We figured out thought that it is not much bigger and taller than many other trees in that part of the park, which means that they probably all are about 1,000 years or older. Hard to imagine what these trees have gone trough in all these centuries and how this coast might have looked 1,000 years ago. It is very mystic to walk between these trees and makes us feel very small and young.

Late afternoon on our way to Eureka, we see some Elk along the road, a family of about eight is laying on a meadow, we could only see their horns sticking out of the high grass. A bit later we see a nice two colored fox trotting across the bike trail and vanishing in the bushes.
