Marco is pushing to leave early as we have a lot on our schedule today.

We start by driving to the Wahweap Marina, where we take a walk on the docks and let Andrej’s and Astrid’s dreams go wild. They love it and are fascinated to see all these house boats.

Then we head to the Stud Horse Point: our first off-road experience on our trip, it’s a dirt road that leads up along the power lines to an area with hoodoos (spikes of soft stone with a hard rock on top). From up here we also have a gorgeous view of the lake and the surrounding mountains.

Around noon we are moving on to Big Water, where we pass the river and drive along the Smoky Mountain Road and then down Crosby Canyon. Another dirt road that leads literally down the creek in the riverbed. At the end of the canyon, where we expect arrive at the lake we see that the whole area is dry. The lake that was here 4 years ago is gone! We already saw that the water level of the lake went back but didn’t expect it to be that much.

Towards 4pm we arrive at the Antelope Canyon. We are the only tourists and get our own guide down into the canyon. For Marco and myself it is the third time but it is still fascinating and amazing with its formations and colors.

Just in time for sunset we are at the Wahweap View Point – a beautiful scenery lies in front of us in the warm evening sun.

We stay another night at the Best Western Plus and have dinner at the Mexican Restaurant just up the road.

    Dear Marco, dear Jackie
It makes me happy to see how sympathetically you treat Andrej’s and Astrid’s visit. You act as perfect hosts and show them wild and natural USA.

  • Hi Andrej,
Aren’t all these places just wonderful? I know all of them and I could come back every year. Antelope Canyon breathtaking, of course even more Grand Canyon. No boat ride on Lake Powell? Last time we also stayed at the BW Plus in Page. I wish you a good continuation of your trip. I will follow you on this blog every day! Best regards to all of you
