Jackie and I have been visiting the Desert Botanical Garden regularly every second Tuesday of the month because of the free admission – since spring has been very nice this year and to have more flexibility with our visits, we eventually decided to become members. This also give me the opportunity to get to know my photo gear a little better.
The garden is only a 10-minute drive from our house and I have become a regular visitor. Sometimes I go with the macro lens to get closeups of flowers and other days with the zoom lens to “hunt” wildlife. By going there during the week and as early in the morning as possible, I can avoid the big crowds and get a much better chance to get some good shots of birds, small rodents, lizards, frogs and insects, including dragon flies and butterflies.
Too bad though that my assistant photographer, Jackie, cannot join me as often as we would like.
