Even here it is foggy in the morning. Therefore we don’t hurry. By the time we are ready to leave though the fog is clearing up and we soon have nice sunshine. We drive through downtown Petaluma to see some of the old victorian houses. The neighborhoods look about the same as San Diego South Park.
Therefore, we move on to Sonoma Valley and slowly drive along the different Wineries. Some of them we explore closer and stroll around the properties and mansions: Benziger Family Winery and Chateau St. Jean were both very beautiful and impressive. Then we drive over the hill to Napa Valley there we visit Castello de Amorosa, a huge castle which they say was built by hand stone by stone. Behringer is an old mansion beautiful and luxurious with lots of Oleander and other blooming trees in the garden. Eventually, we turn into Opus One Winery, which is a joint-venture of Mondavi and Rotschild a very modern building in this landscape of old mansions.
Napa and Sonoma Valley are visited by about 5 Million tourists every year. As it is packed with people today as well we decide to move on and leave the crowded area (we are not used to that much traffic anymore, after spending so much time out in the country).
