Remembering Mom: A Year Without You

SONY ILCE-7RM5, f/4.5, 1/2000 sec, ISO 250

Next Friday marks a year since my mom passed away unexpectedly on June 14th, 2023. As this day approaches, I’ve found myself reflecting on the past year and how much she meant to me. There hasn’t been a day that I haven’t missed her or thought about her.

My mom was more than just a parent; she was my confidant, my guide, and my friend. Her laughter was infectious, her strength unwavering, and her love boundless. Her absence has left a huge void that can never be filled.

As I navigate through life without her, I hold on to the memories we shared. The little moments—our regular talks, her comforting hugs, and the sound of her voice—are treasures I carry in my heart.

In honor of her memory, I try to face challenges with the same strength and grace, and to find joy in the simple things.

To anyone who has lost a loved one, I hope you find comfort in your memories and in knowing that they are always with you in spirit. Though the pain of loss never truly goes away, the love we hold for them keeps their spirit alive.

Mom, I miss you every day. Thank you for everything you gave me and for being the incredible person you were. You are forever in my heart.

I also want to thank my wife Jackie for helping me through this difficult period, and my dad for staying strong through these challenging times. I can’t even imagine how hard this last year has been for him.
