Walk at the Tempe Town Lake, AZ

SONY ILCE-7RM2, f/8, 1/250 sec, ISO 100

Today we went for a short walk along Tempe Town Lake. Tempe Town Lake is a reservoir that occupies a portion of the often dry riverbed of the Salt River as it passes through the city of Tempe, Arizona. It is an engineering marvel that protects the region from flooding, provides recreation, creates jobs and stimulates investment in Tempe. In 2016 the City of Tempe has replaced the inflatable rubber dam system at the west end of Tempe Town Lake with the country’s largest hydraulically-operated steel gate dam.

The Tempe Beach Park holds may events during the year – one of them is the Oktoberfest. Orignially started as a way to honor Tempe’s Bavarian Sister City of Regensburg, Germany, Oktoberfest now draws crowds of 200,000 who enjoy this volunteer-produced event.
