07:00 getting up, having breakfast at the hotel.

08:30: Hwy 80 east then scenic Bwy 130 south towards the Rockies. Some miles before Granby we turn left into a gravel road following a small creek. We are hoping to see moose, but not even the binocular is revealing any. The road leads up over a pass through thick forest and joins Hwy 34 again a few miles before Rocky Mountain National Park. Shortly after entering the park we see some deer again. Then the road is climbing up to 14,000 ft (finally we crossed the tree line). It’s cold and cloudy up here and we feel like being on top of the world. It even starts raining. We still enjoy the view and take some pictures. We leave the park at Estes Park and head to Boulder on Hwy 36. It is rush hour and the traffic is enormous. It looks kind of similar as when driving into San Diego: lots of ‘standard’ neighborhoods and shopping malls. We easily find our way to the La Quinta Inn in Westminster. Before we check the room, we have dinner at a nearby Steakhouse.
