Wahweap Hoodoos Trail

SONY ILCE-7RM5, f/4, 1/320 sec, ISO 500

Upon coming back from The Wave yesterday, we played the daily lottery for Coyote Buttes South for tomorrow and luckily won it. So, today we have to go the office in Page to pick up our permit at 9am, which is not too bad since we wanted to take it easy today.

After picking up the permit we head out to the Wahweap Hoodoos, an easy 1-mile hike in and out in the vast dry riverbed is just about what our sore muscles can bear after the strenuous hike yesterday.

The hoodoos are as beautiful as ever and we realize that we had not explored them to the fullest yet during our past visits when we find a new area a bit off the path. It feels like walking around a filmset of a fairy tail, all the structures, faces, shapes and colors let our imagination go wild – amazing.

On the way back to Page in the late afternoon, we stop at Lone Rock and are glad to see that it is surrounded by water again! We can all just hope that the water levels of Lake Powell continue to rise again and that the Southwest can slowly recover from the decade long drought.
