After months of no appreciable rainfall, the Phoenix metropolitan area finally received a variety pack of precipitation over the last several days: Rain, hail, snow and something called graupel fell over different parts of the Valley depending on the elevation. It has been cold and wet for almost a week and every drop has been highly appreciated especially since according to phoenix.gov, Arizona has been in drought conditions for 15 years, and has “surpassed the worst drought in more than 110 years of official record-keeping”.
Snow in the desert is always fascinating – unfortunately (or fortunately) it does not last long so I had to get out today to get some pictures – hope you will enjoy:
